About Willa

"I am drawn to light, things that shine - like the Eastern sun, painted on the water, a highway of light to the horizon. A warm summer evening where a meadow is lit by fireflies surfing the night. A cool rocky mountain sun set where the alpine glow fills the sky with honey tones."

Willa was born in Eastern Massachusetts among a family of artists, farmers and scholars. Her childhood was filled with artistic expression of many genres. Her innate curiosity of nature and life cultivated here DESIRE to seek more.

At a young age she began to EXPLORE... music, dance, sculpture, theater. This prolific artistic upbringing was the backbone for her path as an artist and creative spirit, while the beauty of nature created the mural for Willa's life.

She gathered academic degrees in music performance as a pianist, and sculpture in studio art from the University of Maine. The discovery of large metals around the early '90s was a niche for Willa's expression. The process with the metal was pure INSPIRATION for Willa. By her mid-20s, she was blacksmithing, steel forging, welding, stone carving, and large scale sculpting.

Willa migrated to Portland, Maine in 1999 where she took to silversmithing, shifting the gears of her art-making, CREATING a new home and new work to let the light in.

"Life is a gift. The beautiful journey of living is magic when you feed your heart with what you love and let freedom for the soul pour through all you do. Everyday is an opportunity to let your light shine."

..the ability to MANIFEST heart's desire... the ship sets sail...adventure... EXPRESS...to create from a feeling and allow the material to sing...the path of the teacher and the student in one...a journey of truth and a life to demonstrate...
